Appraisals & Expert Reports
Verbal appraisals are provided free of charge, provided that Mr Boyer does not need to retain your instrument for further examination.
Should your instrument require further study, the following services are available:
Verbal Expertise
Once the examination has been completed, Mr Boyer will meet with you by appointment and provide his professional opinion regarding the origin and authenticity of the instrument.
Please note that no written report will be issued following this consultation, other than the corresponding invoice.
Fees: from €100 (excl. VAT) per instrument.
Certificate of Authenticity
A Certificate of Authenticity formally records the origin and authenticity of the instrument. Under French law, the certificate remains valid for twelve years.
Each certificate is accompanied by a complete set of photographs bearing the expert’s embossed seal.
Please note that, in France, such certificates should be issued by a court-appointed expert. A certificate signed by a company or by an individual who is not legally recognised as an expert has no legal authority in the event of litigation.
Fees: €300 (excl. VAT) for instruments valued below €10,000, then 3% (excl. VAT) of the appraised value for instruments valued above this amount.
Valuation Certificate
In addition to a Certificate of Authenticity, a Valuation Certificate may be issued to establish the fair market value of the instrument on the date of inspection.
The certificate is accompanied by photographs of the instrument but, unlike the Certificate of Authenticity, does not include a detailed descriptive report.
A Valuation Certificate does not expire and remains valid until market conditions or the instrument itself justify a revised valuation.
Insurance Valuation Certificate
Insurance companies frequently require an Insurance Valuation Certificate when arranging cover for a musical instrument.
This document establishes the replacement value of the instrument in the event of loss, theft or accidental damage.
The valuation may be updated whenever requested by your insurer.
In the event of an insurance claim, the certificate will serve as the reference document for determining compensation, restoration costs and, where appropriate, any depreciation following repair.

The Company BOYER is insured by the company HWI France, 73 boulevard Haussmann 75008 PARIS attached to LLOYD’S (United kingdom) for any object left at the BOYER Company whatever its value.
